I woke up about 5 am and prayed and prayed for our country, family, people, anything  that came to my mind. I wanted to get up and ride my bike and give the dog some exercise, but it was too dark.  “Fall back” time is coming, right?

At 7am I really wanted to get up so I did and had my devotions, kind of.   The new thyroid medication is working, but it is keeping up til about 1 am   That means I need to take it earlier, so I got up and moved it upstairs.   With that done the dog was on my trail to get going.

How was this going to work? I needed to get her exercised, but the last couple of days she has had sooooo much more energy she has practically been dragging me down the street.

If you think of one of those cartoons, that’s me,LOL. And I could not leash her to the bike  first when she hadn’t had a potty break. We need to work on the “Go on command thing”.

But we didn’t have time because Cole wanted to begin watching video services which began at 9 am.

I got my sweats on and finished dressing, with the puppy dog “talking” to me.

Walk or bike?

After thinking it over  and checking the time, I decided we had less than fifty minutes.

I could not walk to the dog park. Besides, there were too many squirrels on the way and as ready to go as she was, it would not be a good idea, or a safe one for me.

I had been checking my phone as to when the break in the weather was and it seemed to be between 8am and 9 am, but it was now 8:15.

So I grabbed the harness and leash, put on my jacket, and off we went. Almost immediately we saw a squirrel in our front yard so I let her go.  She has really good  recall, so off we went down the street.

She definitely was again in  “hunt mode” and after about four blocks of tussle, I decided since she had not gone potty and was too excited to go I would go home and get the bike.

But I was not checking the clock, and because the remote garage opener is broken, that meant a slight detour into the house, unlock doors, let her look for a critter under the car while I opened the garage, backed out the bike, ran around to the side door which I unlocked, put my bike out, closed the garage door, got her, and ran out the side door.

Carefully putting her leash over the handle bar while talking to her about listening, we took off.

She began to out run me and I peddled faster and she slowed down so we met at a good pace with me instructing her. She was listening well especially when I said “over” “no”, or “careful”.

We made a loop  of several blocks twice, and  I thought we should go home.    Then we had to go through the reverse.

WAIT!

I changed my mind not knowing the time parked the bike on the driveway praying no one would steal it as they had my neighbor’s,  we took off so she could have a quick bathroom break.

But she was back in squirrel mode, and we just kept walking with me jogging at times (I remembered to put the brace on 🙂 ).

We took a shortcut close to the school park  and she finally relieved herself on the return trip.

I was thinking we were close to the 9:00hour or over, so we increased the pace a little, but she saw a squirrel again and it was too tempting, so I let her chase it up a tree and she circled around and returned.

Now, with just three blocks we increased the pace again. The pavement was wet and leaves made it slippery, so I didn’t want to push it too fast as I had slipped on the street yesterday but recovered my balance thank God. (I did and do!)

We made it back and just as my phone said it began to rain a few drops, but by the time I had opened the side door and removed the harness, and the dog was  safely inside, it was really raining on my bike which I quickly put inside the garage and closed the door. Whew!

I ran through the house door and checked the clock. We had a couple of minutes to spare. I was already so excited about the perfect timing of the hold off of the rain, and now I had time to run upstairs, into my office, grab the computer, run down the hall, log in, select the program for my husband, and crash.

I could not believe it. Even with no watch, or clock, the Lord was ordering my steps.

I am teary as I type this because that rain thing has happened so many times. I have a wonderful puppy story of when it didn’t. No matter what, God is so faithful.

Can’t express my gratitude enough. Truly, “our times are in His hands”.
